System Requirements for the Emerge Program

Internet Connection

Because EMERGE is a media-rich program, the use a high-speed Internet connection (DSL/ Cable/LAN) is essential. Dial-up Internet connections should not be used.

Flash Player and Internet Browsers

EMERGE requires Adobe Flash to be installed on your browser. This is software that lets you view Web content such as games and animations. In the rare instance when a user’s browser does not have Flash, the software can be
downloaded for free from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/.

PC users with operating systems Windows 98 SE, 2000 or XP can use any of the following browsers to participate in EMERGE:

• • Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
• • Mozilla Firefox 1.5
  • Netscape Navigator 7.1
  • AOL 9

Mac users (OS X 10.2, 10.3, 10.4) can use either Safari (1.1 or higher) or Mozilla Firefox 1.5.

Those who have the Linux operating system can use the Mozilla Firefox 1.5 browser and Solaris users Mozilla 1.7.
